RIO German Intensivkurs - Round 2 on the Intensive Courses

And another Intensivkurs has begun!

For some reason, it took me quite a while to get to bed last night. Because of this, I was, unfortunately, pretty tired this morning.

Despite that, I made it to work on time. Whether it was because I have already handed out Naldo Bescheinigungs and information packets to students or because there were fewer students (a little over 60), this time around went a lot smoother.

We also had more RIO staff available this week for the program. Angela and Brigitte are back from their holidays! The office dynamic is changing once again.

Once everyone received all the information and took their placement tests, Augusto and I headed over to fill up around 150 cups of water for students and faculty to have with their lunches. It's all apparently part of the job!

We grabbed lunch with some of the Brazilian students and ate some of the Gulasch that the Mensa offered today. I, thankfully, also found time to take a short nap before giving a campus tour with another RIO helper named Tobias. Tobias, a native German, ended up giving the tour in German and I would translate his German into English for the students who do not know German very well. It ended up being a good system and I felt like I played a part in these students' welcome day.

I kept commenting on, once again, how small the group sizes were. We only had about 10 people on our tour group.

Once we got student's registered with the city, among other administrative things, I had to take care of a situation. Many times, questions are directed at me that I don't know the answer to. Of course, I take that question and find an answer. I have been given more responsibilities with this program and the ESB program, and I enjoy being able to help the students whenever I can. I have more duties where I have to interact with university staff in order to get student's activations of accounts completed and student ID cards into the students' hands.

Once my day was done, I had a very relaxing evening. I made a healthy dinner and ended up reading the evening away, while catching up with some friends back home.

In a few days, I will be celebrating my one-month mark here in Reutlingen. Right now, it feels like the time is not going very fast. This time around, I know better; I know how fast the time will fly.
