I felt a lot better today; after the day I had had yesterday, everything could only get better.
Karin and the ladies in the office were surprised to see me, I think! Despite my sickness, I knew that I could make it to the office today. I still sound terrible, but I feel better.
Today was the most productive day that I have had at the office since I started! I have been working on the Intercultural Training pages on the Reutlingen University website. It is called "Interkulturelle Kommunikation."
I have been updating more workshop dates for both the German portion of the website, as well as for the English part. It is really great learning how to use TYPO3! While other website software will assuredly be different than TYPO3, it is still good to have some kind of experience with this type of program for the future.
On top of updating the website, I also began to help students who are showing up at the office. We are having our intensive course participants sign up for a meeting in the Rathaus so that they can begin the process to get their residency visas. Apparently you can stay in Germany for 3 months before you are required to have this residency visa, so it is not extremely vital. Students also wished to pay for our excursion to the Bodensee (Lake Constance) tomorrow, which I will be going on. The "Bodensee (Lake Constance)" link will take you to one of my new favorite traveling websites, Fodor's, where you can learn more about what I will be able to do there!
I left the office to do my normal water duties in the Mensa, and was finished before noon today! I got to go home for a little bit, eat something, and take a nice nap before heading back to work.
In the afternoon, I worked more with the TYPO3 program. The office is closed to students on Friday afternoons, so it was mostly quiet and easy to work in.
I am almost done with my recently assigned task of updating the website. Hopefully I get to work with TYPO3 more. :)
Tonight, I handed out a key to a new student, as well as helped Allie figure out a few travel things. I told her more about my trip to Greece and the amazing cruise of the Greek Isles that Amy, Adam, and Nate, and I went on when we studied abroad. It sounds luxurious, but it was a fantastic deal, especially for what you get! We got a place to stay, food for all of our meals of the day (included in the price), as well as transportation from one island to the next. Transportation, round trip, from Athens to one island was about 100€, so we got a pretty good deal for getting to 5 or 6 islands, as well as some really great excursions!
The rest is history. I made some dinner, Skyped some friends back home, and now I am ready for bed.
